PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface coated cermet member, in which oxidation resistance can be improved while maintaining excellent performances of a titanium sintered body. SOLUTION: The surface coated cermet member comprises a cermet substrate 11 composed of a sintered body comprising at least one of titanium compound in titanium carbide, titanium nitride and titanium carbonitride, as an essential component of a hard phase, and an oxidation-resistant film 12 formed thereon. The oxidation-resistant film 12 comprises a composite oxide having different compositions in an interface 12a with the cermet substrate 11 and in an outermost surface 12b from each other.
