PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a porous body for efficiently obtaining a porous body having a high and uniform porosity; to provide an insulated electric wire produced by the method and having stable transmission characteristics; and to provide a method for producing the wire. SOLUTION: The method for producing a porous body includes: preparing a resin composition by dispersing a water-containing water-absorbing polymer fine particle component (Y) in a UV curing resin component (X) in such a manner that the components (X) and (Y) are included in an amount of 20 to 80% and 80 to 20%, respectively, and that, in terms of a compounding ratio of (Y) classified in accordance with a particle diameter, fine particles (Y<SB>1</SB>) having a volume average particle diameter of 10 to 30μm are included in an amount of a volume fraction of 50 to 90% and fine particles (Y<SB>2</SB>) having a volume average particle diameter of 1 to 10μm are included in an amount of a volume fraction of 10 to 50%; forming a thin film of the resin composition; forming a resin composition cured film by irradiating the thin film with light to cure the UV curing resin in the resin composition thin film by photopolymerization; and forming a porous thin film by drying the cured thin film to remove a water content from the water-containing water-absorbing polymer fine particles.
