PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal that improves communication between protected persons and certainty of safety confirmation with a protected person. SOLUTION: A portable terminal 100 includes a rechargeable battery 130, a battery remaining capacity detection means 161, a position information acquisition means 165, a mailing condition decision means 162 that outputs a mailing instruction when the battery remaining capacity satisfies an electronic mailing condition, a position information acquisition condition decision means 164 that outputs a position information acquisition instruction when the battery remaining capacity satisfies a predetermined position information acquisition condition, and a mailing means 163. The electronic mail is transmitted on condition that the battery remaining capacity reaches a mailing lower threshold value and/or a mailing upper threshold value. The position information is acquired on condition that the battery remaining capacity reaches a position information acquisition lower threshold value set at a value different from the mailing lower threshold value.
