PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal composition and an electro-optical device which has an increased response speed in a TN mode. SOLUTION: A chiral material and an ultraviolet curable liquid crystal are added to a nematic liquid crystal. The amount of the ultraviolet curable liquid crystal added to the nematic liquid crystal is 5 to 10 wt.%. Additionally, the nematic liquid crystal has positive dielectric anisotropy.
