PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus, which can suppress an error of detection of a toner concentration on an image carrier even when time passes. SOLUTION: Based on the detection value of regularly-reflected light detected by an optical sensor 160 about the surface of a base-surface portion on which toner image from an intermediate transfer belt 7 is not carried, an input current set value for the light-emitting element 161 of the optical sensor 160 is adjusted. Based on the adjusted input current set value, output conversion information, indicating a relation between the detection value of diffused light and toner density after correction, is determined.
