Disclosed is a liquid crystal display device (100A) having a plurality of image pixels (10) arranged as a matrix having rows and columns, and each image pixel has a first image subpixel (10a) and a second image subpixel (10b) arranged in a column direction. One of the first image subpixel (10a) and the second image subpixel (10b) is a bright image subpixel which exhibits, at least within a certain gradient, more brightness than the other image subpixel, and the other image subpixel is the dark image subpixel. A plurality of color display image pixels are comprised of a plurality of image pixels and each color display image pixel has an even number of image pixels including a first (Y), a second (R), a third (G) and a fourth (B) image pixel arranged in a row direction, and within an arbitrary row of image pixels, a row of image subpixels which include a bright image subpixel includes the respective bright image subpixels for the first, the second, the third and the fourth image pixel. |
