MANUFACTURING METHOD OF HYDROXYTHIOPHENOL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for easily and inexpensively manufacturing hydroxythiophenol that is useful as a synthetic intermediate of various pharmaceuticals and is a very important intermediate particularly in the synthesis of a heterocyclic compound.

SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of hydroxythiophenol represented by formula (2) comprises causing a halogenated phenol substituted with a fluorine atom, a chlorine atom, a bromine atom, an iodine atom or the like to react with hydrogen sulfide in the presence of activated carbon thereby to replace the halogen atom by a thiol group.
