PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bactericide hardly causing hand chapping even by the repeated use thereof, and usable without anxiety, and to provide a dishcloth containing the bactericide. SOLUTION: The bactericide contains a compound represented by formula (1) [wherein, R<SP>1</SP>is 1-23C hydrocarbon; R<SP>2</SP>is hydrogen or 1-3C hydrocarbon which may have a carboxylic acid group or a sulfonic acid group; Y is carboxy, a sulfonic acid group, a sulfuric ester group, a phosphoric ester group or a salt thereof; Z is -NR'-(R' is hydrogen or 1-10C hydrocarbon), -O- or -S-; j and k are each one of 0, 1 and 2, and both of j and k are not 0 at the same time; n is an integer of 2-20; and X is a hydrocarbon chain which may have a substituent and which has≤1,000,000 of the molecular weight] besides a bactericide component.
