BAND CALCULATION METHOD AND BAND CALCULATION APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the calculation amount when a band required for a path for detour is calculated.

SOLUTION: A band calculation method in a band calculation apparatus that calculates a band upper limit value of a communication link required for a path for detour when failures occur on a communication network in which an actually used path and a path for detour are set, includes: a step of acquiring a traffic amount flowing in the communication link; a step of selecting a first communication link for assuming the occurrence of failure on the actually used path; a step of calculating the band upper limit value required for a second communication link for the path for detour when failures occurs in the first communication link as the maximum value of a function that uses the traffic amount as a constraint condition by a linear programming method; and a step of repeating the selecting step and the calculation step. The calculation step adds a constraint condition that the function exceeds the calculation result already calculated, and calculates the band upper limit value.
