PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the fuel economy of an internal combustion engine by reducing the sliding resistance of a crank shaft while ensuring the durability reliability of the crank shaft. SOLUTION: A crank shaft 10 includes a spindle part 11 which is rotatably supported by an engine block via a main bearing, and an eccentric shaft part 12 connected to a connecting rod via a connecting rod bearing. A journal part 17 to be engaged with the main bearing in which the width B1 is smaller than the width Bm of the spindle part 11 and the diameter D1 is smaller than the diameter Dm of the spindle part 11 is provided on the spindle part 11.
