PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a strainer for filtering a coating material which can prevent a coating material with a plurality of mixed/toned color components from taking on a different color from when the color is toned as a result of a part of the color components being retained inside the strainer, during filtering the coating material, and also exhibits excellent filtering speed. SOLUTION: This strainer for filtering a coating material is configured to include a paper-made body shaped like inverted conical trapezoidal barrel and a reticulated form fitted so as to cover the lower opening part of the body. In addition, the reticulated form is of such a structure that the circumferential edge part is fitted to the outer circumferential surface or the inner circumferential surface of the body, and the lower end part of the body projects downward from the filtering surface of the reticulated form, and the maximum length part of the projecting part is not more than 10 mm long.
