COATED POWDER AND COSMETIC PREPARATION USING THE COATED POWDER

Disclosed are: a coated powder, which is free from problems of the development of odor over time even if a powder is coated using a starting material that is derived from a vegetable oil or fat, and which can be blended in a cosmetic preparation and has extremely smooth texture, excellent water repellency and excellent pigment dispersibility; and a cosmetic preparation in which the coated powder is blended. Specifically disclosed is a coated powder which is obtained by coating a powder to be processed with a mixture that is composed of 60-90% by weight of an extremely hardened vegetable oil or fat having a melting point of not less than 50°C and 10-40% by weight of an ester oil derived from a vegetable oil or fat, said mixture serving as a coating agent. The coating process of the coating agent is preferably carried out at a temperature that is higher than the melting point of the extremely hardened vegetable oil or fat by 10-20°C. The powder to be processed is preferably coated with 1-15% by weight of the coating agent, particularly preferably with 3-10% by weight of the coating agent. A cosmetic preparation can be obtained using the coated powder as a part or all of the components of the cosmetic preparation.
