PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a storage water heater capable of accurately performing reheating operation. SOLUTION: In the storage water heater, hot water obtained by heating operation by a heating means is stored in a hot water storage tank, and the hot water within the hot water storage tank is taken out and supplied to a hot water supply terminal. The storage water heater includes: a hot water delivery heat quantity detection means, when hot water is taken out from the hot water storage tank, detecting hot water delivery heat quantity which is heat quantity of the taken-out hot water; a reference heat quantity storage means, when the amount of the hot water within the hot water storage tank becomes predetermined amount, storing the heat quantity of the hot water stored within the hot water storage tank at that time as reference heat quantity; a hot water delivery heat quantity integrated value storing means storing an integrated value of the hot water delivery heat quantity detected after the amount of the hot water within the hot water storage tank becomes the predetermined amount as a hot water delivery heat quantity integrated value; and a heating operation start control means performing heating operation start control to determine whether heating operation is started based on the reference heat quantity and hot water delivery heat quantity integrated value.
