The invention relates to the use of a nozzle device (100) which is movably connected to a steam-generating household appliance (10) such that said nozzle device can be moved in at least two degrees of freedom relative to the household appliance (10), for preparing food (150) by means of the steam generated by the household appliance (10). The invention makes it possible to provide a method for steam treating by which food can be conveniently prepared using simple, constructional and cost-effective means. By means of the invention, in particular improved results can be achieved in the preparation of food by means of steam.
