<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting device that can be operated with low power consumption in a wide temperature range or humidity range and exhibits superior heat dissipation. <P>SOLUTION: A metal substrate 7 on which a plurality of LEDs 6 are mounted is joined and connected to an inner surface of a metal support plate 8, and a peripheral edge of the support plate 8 and a peripheral edge of an illumination cover 9 formed of translucent material are sealed and connected to house the substrate 7 air-tightly in the illumination cover 9.
