METHOD FOR DRIVING DISPLAY DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a convenient display device which reduces power consumption to a sufficiently low level and to provide a method for driving such a display device.

SOLUTION: The potentials of a pixel electrode and a common electrode which are for applying a voltage to a display element are brought into a floating state so that a voltage applied to the display element is held, and while a still image is displayed in a still image display mode for displaying a still image without further supply of a potential, the display device is put to an off state. By putting the display device to an off state with a desired still image displayed in the still image display mode, the level of security and the level of convenience can be improved.
