PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power supply device for lighting capable of lighting simply and promptly without damaging a light source, when the light source having different rated power, rated voltage, and rated current or the like is installed. SOLUTION: The power supply device for lighting 1 has a light source installation portion 3, a power factor improving circuit portion 4 which converts an AC voltage from the AC power supply into a DC voltage and outputs the DC voltage, a power supply portion 5 which converts the DC voltage converted by the power factor improving circuit portion 4 into an AC voltage and supplies the AC voltage to a power source 2 installed in the light source installation portion 3, and a control device 6 which controls supply amount of the AC power of the power supply portion 5. The control device 6 detects the voltage and current from the light source 2 installed in the light source installation portion 3 and sets the supply amount of the AC power to the light source 2 based on the detected detection voltage V1 and detection current A1, and generates a control signal to the power supply portion 5 based on the set supply amount of the AC power, and controls supply of the AC power of the power supply portion 5 by the control signal.
