PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a thermally expansible microcapsule capable of manufacturing a thermally expansible microcapsule excellent in heat resistance and capable of foaming at a high foaming magnification. SOLUTION: This is a method of manufacturing a thermally expansible microcapsule having a process in which an oily substance containing a polymerizable monomer, a volatile liquid and a polymerization initiator are suspended in an aqueous dispersion medium and a process in which the polymerizable monomer is polymerized by heating, and the polymerization temperature of the polymerizable monomer is set at a temperature not lower than the glass transition temperature of the polymer obtained by polymerizing the polymerizable monomer.
