PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a 1-methylene indan polymer having a narrow molecular weight distribution, a novel manufacturing method for the 1-methylene indan polymer, a novel block copolymer containing a 1-methylene indan polymer chain, and a manufacturing method for the block copolymer. SOLUTION: The 1-methylene indan polymer comprises a repetition unit represented by formula (1) and has a ratio Mw/Mn of a weight average molecular weight Mw to a number average molecular weight Mn of 1.5 or less.
