PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify a procedure and shorten a time necessary for completing replacement of an ink cartridge running out of ink, and to properly cope with the case where the replacement is not conducted. SOLUTION: After a carriage is moved from a home position to a replacement position and if a movement indication switch is pushed down in a state that all the ink cartridges running out of the ink are replaced, the carriage is moved to the home position (refer to (b) and (c)). When the movement indication switch is pushed down in a state that at least a part of ink cartridges running out of the ink is not replaced, the carriage is moved to a display position to display the information of the ink shortage (refer to (e) and (f)). After all the information of the ink shortage is displayed and when the movement indication switch is pushed down, the carriage is moved again to the replacement position (refer to (g)).
