PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piston device for an internal combustion engine that prevents attenuation of the tumble flow in a cylinder by a combination of two intake valves which differ in closing time. SOLUTION: A first cavity 4 is provided on a piston crown surface on a side of the intake valve of which the closing time is earlier, wherein the first cavity is recessed in a relatively-gentle arc on a cross section being perpendicular to a crankshaft; and a second cavity 6 is provided on the piston crown surface on a side of the intake valve of which the closing time is later, wherein the second cavity is recessed in a relatively-sharp arc on the cross section being perpendicular to the crankshaft.
