The device has a high frequency line (7) arranged at a fixed part and another high frequency line (8) electrically coupled with the former high frequency line arranged at a rotating part. The former high frequency line is connected with the signal source (14) and with a reflection measuring device (22). The sensor elements are arranged on the rotating part. The sensor elements control the reflection characteristics of the latter high frequency line in relation to work spindle depending on the position of the tool or tool carrier.
