A method of improving the performance of a radar system in the presence of intermittent periods of significant interference comprising the steps of digitising 10 and storing 12 the I and Q information which is received by the radar during predetermined analysis periods related to the target processing interval in each of its processed range cells, performing a separate statistical analysis, e.g. an amplitude histogram, on the information stored in each range cell to determine which such cells contain corrupted or unusable information, forming from the results a binary template 18 corresponding to pattern of corrupted and usable cells, and utilising the template to determine which of the stored cell information is to be passed 20 for subsequent processing in a radar detector processor. |
