The field chopper (10) has a chaff device (22) and a finishing device that is arranged downstream to the chaff device. The finishing device is provided with two rollers (28), where a threshing good is passed between the rollers by the chaff device. A controlling device (48) is impinged with information regarding section length of the chaff device. The controlling device is operated to control an actuator (50) in dependence of the section length.
