[Also in Group XXIV] A work- or tool-holder comprises a helicallyslit sleeve formed with a conical-surface concentric with a parallel gripping-surface, clamping being effected by moving the sleeve along the conical surface of a body, and the slit being filled by a spacing-member. For clamping internally, the sleeve 9, Fig. 1, is movable on a body 2 by a screw 3, and is secured between the screw-head 4 and a ring 8. The helical slit contains a spring 11 and packing 13, e.g. of rubber. For clamping externally, the sleeve 91, Fig. 2, is movable along the conical surface of body 16 by a ring 18. Rolling bodies, e.g. balls, may be inserted in the slit in place of spring 11. |
