Tachograph and card device associated therewith

It is presented a tachograph (1) and a card device (17) for use with the tachograph (1). The tachograph (1) comprises wireless communication means (5) for wireless communication with the card device (17), and card reading means (11) which is adapted to communicate with the card device (17) by physically interfacing with the card device (17). The card device (17) comprises a corresponding card device wireless communication means (17-1) that provides for wireless communication with the tachograph (1) and a second interface such as a smart card circuit chip (23) providing communication with the tachograph (1) by physical interaction with the card reading means (11).
