The discharge electrodes of an electrostatic precipitator are formed from two or multi-ply barbed wire. The wire is supported by ferrules d, e from the framework i and is tensioned by nut g. The cross-wires c may be wrapped around individual or both strands a, b and each cluster may have any number of barbs. The wire is preferably of galvanised mild steel. According to the first Provisional Specification a wire or bar may be drilled or perforated to receive sharp pins ; or the surface of the wire or bar may be locally cut to provide sharp regions. |
