The time-saving method of annealing a steel half-finished product of the present invention being aimed at obtaining through a defined method an annealed steel with suitable morphology of carbides in a ferritic matrix, is characterized in that a steel half-finished product is subjected to a principal heating at a rate higher than 10 degC/s to a temperature in the range of 650 to 900 degC in its entire cross section. Subsequently, it is cooled down by at least 200 degC at a rate higher than 0.5 degC/s wherein this operation is carried out at least twice whereupon repeated cooling down of the half-finished product is carried out at a rate higher than 0.5 degC/s.
