<p>The holding device has a fastening rail at which a side of the flat hangings is fastened and a holding element (13) through which the rope is passed and holds the fastening rail at the rope. The holding element has a rope passage which is designed such that contact points (31a,31b) with increased friction are formed between the holding element and the rope during receiving of the rope in the rope passage. The rope is clamped between two points. An independent claim is also included for a flat hanging bracket with a rope fastening unit.</p>
