780,082. Tubular heat exchangers. SERCK RADIATORS, Ltd. Sept. 22, 1955 [Nov. 10, 1954], No. 32510/54. Class 64(3) Relates to cooling apparatus for air or other gases in which the air or other gas is directed by transverse baffles in a sinuous path over an assembly of parallel cooling tubes d arranged within a casing u, each tube having secondary heating sursurfaces g arranged thereon. According to the invention, the secondary heating surface extends only along that portion of the length of each tube, which lies between the end of the casing adjacent to the air or gas outlet c and a baffle f adjacent the air or gas inlet b. The secondary heating surface on each tube may comprise a metal strip wound helically therearound or a number of metal discs. In the form shown the cooling tubes extend between headers h, i and water is the cooling medium flowing through the tubes.
