<p>A method and system guides the preparation of a dish according to a recipe and using a communication device to configure the operation of a cooking appliance. The recipe is presented to direct the preparation of a dish in recipe steps; a cooking appliance in communication with the communication device is configured according to the steps; progress of the recipe steps is monitored; and one or more advertisements are presented in response to the progress. Monitoring may comprises receiving input indicating the progress and presenting one or more advertisements may be responsive to the input. The input may comprise cooking appliance data received from the cooking appliance. An advertisement may be contextually selected for presentation in response to recipe data associated with the recipe. It may be presented interactively to invoke a communication function of the device, for example to conduct an e-commerce or other transaction.</p> |
