The invention relates to electrochemistry, in particular to a process for chemical-catalytic production of nickel-rhenium coatings on metallic and nonmetallic materials. The process, according to the invention, includes the activation of water in an electromagnetic field with variable frequency in the range of 220...430 Hz and a current density of 2...4 mA/dm3 of treated water, successive dissolution in activated water of nickel sulphate, optionally potassium perrhenate, potassium pyrophosphate, dimethylaminoborane and 6-hydroxy-2-mercaptobenzothiazole taken in the following concentration, mol/l of water:and deposition of metal coating at a temperature of 75...78°C, pH = 9.5...10 and the ratio of the working solution volume to the coated surface area of 5:1 dm3/dm2.
