The device (10) has a rotary cylindrical positive part (11) and a mold (12) for importing embossing i.e. Braille lettering, in a folding box blank. A distance between casing surfaces of the positive part and mold corresponds to a thickness of the blank during an embossing process. A lifting device (40) temporarily changes the distance of the positive and mold. A controller (52) triggers lifting of the positive part directly after ending of the embossing process, and triggers lowering of the part directly before beginning of the embossing process, by the lifting device.
