A pattern-cut flat glass sheet is placed across a concave outline-type bending mould which is of such dimensions relatively to those of the sheet after bending that, as the sheet sags on to the mould during heating, its peripheral edge at all times lies outside the frame of the mould so that the peripheral edge of the bent sheet is in compression after the sheet is annealed. |
