PURPOSE: A ballast system of a rig ship is provided to prevent the inclination or overturn of the rig ship caused by the uncontrolled inflow of sea water into a ballast tank. CONSTITUTION: A ballast system of a rig ship comprises a pontoon ballast tank(130) which is installed in a pontoon, a column ballast tank(110) which is installed in a column, a sea water delivery pipe(105) which is connected to the pontoon ballast tank and the column ballast tank to deliver sea water, a sea water valve(111) which is installed in the sea water delivery pipe to control the inflow of sea water into the pontoon ballast tank and the column ballast tank, and an emergency shut-off valve(150) which is installed in the sea water delivery pipe to block the inflow of sea water into the column ballast tank or the pontoon ballast tank in case of an abnormal operation of the sea water valve.
