WATER REPELLENT HEAT INSULATING MATERIALS BY E-GLASS FIBER AND ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD

PURPOSE: A method for manufacturing a water-repellent heat insulating material using long glass fiber and the water-repellent heat insulating material are provided to secure the sufficient water-repellency to the surface layer of a product by uniformly penetrating a water-repellent agent to the product in a shaping process. CONSTITUTION: A long glass fiber needle mat is shaped by needle-punching long glass fiber. The shaped long glass fiber needle mat is immersed in a water-repellent solution. Inhaling and compressing processes are repeated using diaphragm in order to impregnate the water-repellent solution to the needle mat. The needle mat passes through a compressive roller. The fading rate of the needle mat is controlled. A heat insulating material is shaped using the needle mat and a binder. The heat insulating material is dried. The water-repellent solution re-impregnated to the surface layer of the heat insulating material. A final drying process is implemented.
