Novel alpha-galactoside-beta-2,6-sialyltransferase, gene coding for the transferase and process for producing the same

Provided is an isolated protein having beta-galactoside-alpha-2,6- sialyltransferase activity comprising a specified amino acid sequence or sharing an amino acid identity of 70% or more with it. Further provided are corresponding nucleic acid sequences, vectors and host cells containing the sequences and a deposited bacterial strain expressing the protein.
