A system for facilitating interpolations associated with computer generated objects (910) comprising a memory configured to store information specifying a first object and a processor coupled to the memory. The first object comprises a plurality of sites (930) and a boundary formed by a subset of sites in the plurality of sites. A site can be a point, vertex, curve, surface or a mesh. The processor is configured to determine a plurality of coordinate components based on the boundary for at least one site located within the boundary to generate for the at least one site interior coordinates associated with each site in the subset of sites in the plurality of sites. Each of the plurality of determined coordinate components represent relative influence at the at least one site of a corresponding site in the subset of sites in the plurality of sites whose influence within the boundary does not represent extrema in the interior of the boundary. The processor is further configured to interpolate at least one value for the at least on site based on the interior coordinates associated with each site in the subset of sites in the plurality of sites. A computer-implemented method for generating images of computer generated objects in computer-generated scenes based on the at least one interpolated value for the at least one site located within the boundary is further disclosed.
