Flavonoid compounds and uses thereof

Disclosed is a substituted flavone derivative of formula (I) wherein the substituents are as disclosed in the description. Exemplary compounds are: 4'-(Benzyloxy)-3-(benzyloxycarbonylbutylcarbonyloxy)flavone; 4'-Hydroxyflavone 3-hemiadipate; and 3',4'-Dibenzyloxy-3-(benzyloxycarbonylbutylcarbonyloxy)flavone. Also disclosed is a pharmaceutical or vetinariary composition comprising a compound of formula (I). Further disclosed is the use of a compound of formula (I) for the preparation of a medicament for treating ischemia, reperfusion injury, atherosclerosis or damage caused by the administration of a therapeutic agent.
