Fluid Transfer using capillary action between chambers where the transfer is initiated by a pressure pulse

A fluid transfer device (700) for transferring a fluid from a first chamber (510) to a second chamber (310) is disclosed. A barrier layer between the first and second chamber (310) has at least one opening (410) defining a fluid pathway connecting the first chamber (510) to the second chamber (310). The at least one opening (410) is sized such that a retention force keeps the fluid in the first chamber (510) and the at least one opening (410). At least a portion of the second chamber (310) is movable with respect to the barrier layer and fluid can be transferred from the first chamber (510) to the second chamber (310) via the fluid pathway when that portion of the second chamber (310) contacts the fluid at the at least one opening (410).
