The method involves filtering acceleration with a low pass filter i.e. infinite impulse response low pass filter (2), and evaluating the acceleration over a predetermined time. A filtered acceleration signal is compared with a threshold value, and a numerator is changed based on the comparison result, and an overturn is detected when count exceeds a numerator threshold value. A filtered signal is evaluated for a time period of 500 milliseconds, where the low pass is used with cut off frequency of smaller or equivalent to 5 Hertz. An independent claim is also included for a control device for power cut in a car i.e. electric car, with a high voltage onboard network.
