Disclosed is a transparent protective plate for a display panel, which is obtained by sequentially laminating a base layer, a gas barrier layer, and if necessary, a transparent adhesive layer that is composed of an acrylic adhesive on a transparent hard resin substrate such as a polymethyl methacrylate resin substrate or an aromatic polycarbonate resin substrate. The transparent protective plate for a display panel is characterized in that: the base layer is a cured body that is obtained by polymerizing a base material solution containing 90-20 parts by mass of a urethane acrylate adhesive resin (A) and 10-80 parts by mass of a silicon compound (B); the silicon compound (B) is composed of at least one compound selected from the group consisting of alkoxysilane compounds, hydrolysis products of alkoxysilane compounds, silane coupling agents, hydrolysis products of silane coupling agents, and fine silica particles; and the gas barrier layer is a dense cured body of silicon oxide, said dense cured body being obtained by curing a polysilazane compound (C) in the presence of an amine catalyst (D).
