ACTIVE-MATRIX DISPLAY HAVING A BUILT-IN OPEN-LINE REPAIR STRUCTURE

The invention relates to a display having a built-in open-line repair structure for an active-matrix array, which uses half-ringed conductive repair elements Ek around the useful display area ZA. Each repair element is assigned to repair only one group of the lines of the array which intersect the two loops of the half ring. An open line is then repaired by creating a connection at each of the two points of intersection of said line with the two loops of the half ring of a repair element. The loop connection is ensured by at least the segment which joins the two loops. The repair structure advantageously minimizes cross-coupling and line loading, and is inexpensive, while at the same time enabling a large number of lines to be repaired. The invention is especially suited to large displays or high-resolution displays.
