<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a guide and retention assembly, which reliably provides proper connection, support, and guiding of a plurality of opposing plates of a die set, ensures proper lubrication to bushing and rod, and reliably prevents contamination and wear of the bushing due to the intrusion of contaminants. <P>SOLUTION: The guide and retention assembly for a die set includes: a housing having a mounting flange, a sleeve, and a bore extending through the flange and sleeve; a bushing received in the bore and located in the sleeve; and a rod slidably received in the bushing for axial reciprocation relative to the housing. The die set includes a first plate and a second plate that confronts the first plate and is arranged away from the first plate, and guides and retains these plates which move toward and away from each other for relatively reciprocatory movement. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
