PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for separating cationic metals or cationic compounds, in which cationic metals or compounds 9 are attracted and separated by a negative electrical charge of microbubbles to suppress production of scale and reduce an equipment cost and a running cost. SOLUTION: The method for separating cationic metals or cationic compounds includes: a pH adjustment step 3 of adjusting the pH of the water 2 which is to be treated in a water treatment system 1 including the cationic metals or compounds 9, to≥4; a bubble supply step 5 of supplying microbubbles 7 to the water 2 to be treated; and a separation step 8 of sticking the cationic metals or compounds 9 in the water 2 to be treated to the surfaces of negatively-charged microbubbles 7 by the pH adjustment and separating the microbubbles 7 with cationic metals or the cationic compounds 9 attracted, from the water 2 to be treated by a difference in specific gravity and/or a difference in particle size.
