PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a toner, which suppresses sedimentation property or aggregation property of a colorant dispersion, shows a good dispersion state as a toner, and gives an image of high picture quality with appropriate image density and free of paper fog, afterimage and contamination. SOLUTION: The method for producing a toner for electrostatic charge image development by using a colorant dispersion comprising a dispersion medium and a magenta colorant is characterized in that the volume median diameter Dv1 (μm) of the colorant and the viscosityη(cP) at 25°C in the colorant dispersion satisfy expression (1):η<41,360×(Dv1)<SP>2</SP>-12,800×Dv1+1,145 (wherein Dv1 is measured by a dynamic light scattering method and represents a particle diameter at a point where the volume particle size distribution cumulative curve of the colorant indicates 50%).
