PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wheelchair allowing a user to rotate wheels by hand beside knees in a posture riding on the wheelchair because many of users requiring nursing care are the aged or sickly women whose arms are not strong enough to rotate push rims of a self-propelled wheelchair, and can not drive the wheelchair without help of others whether the wheelchair is of the self-propelled type or of a nursing-care type. SOLUTION: Some people are square-shouldered and strong enough to drive wheelchairs by themselves, and others can enjoy hard sports on wheelchairs. However, these people are a few, and most wheelchair users are those requiring nursing care who can not operate push rims by themselves. This wheelchair allows a physically weak patient to be moved in a posture riding on the wheelchair, and the difference in the posture is such as between sitting straight and sitting cross-legged. In the wheelchair, a power source 6 for the push rim is transferred to an outside place beside the knee in front of an armrest because the place is only one place where there is no trouble in getting on/off the wheelchair. The transfer of the power source 6 is the transfer from powerfulness to elegance. The wheelchair is characterized by the transfer of the position of the power source which is attached as an additional component to a conventional self-propelled wheelchair or nursing-care wheelchair.
