PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for manufacturing a plasma display panel, generating sufficient self-erasing voltage during aging and securing a high quality panel with small display unevenness in a surface at a high yield. SOLUTION: The device for manufacturing a plasma display panel has: a front plate for forming a plurality of display electrode pairs made from scanning electrodes and sustaining electrodes; and a back plate for forming a plurality of address electrodes so as to cross at a right angle to the display electrode pairs, wherein the front plate and the back plate are oppositely arranged so as to internally form a discharge space and a peripheral edge section of the front plate and the back plate is sealed. A phase of voltage applied to the display electrode pair 12 is changed, bias voltage is applied at the time of a peak of the voltage after the phase of the voltage is changed, and aging discharge is carried out by making the bias voltage set at zero when the peak of the voltage has passed.
