PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for an automatic transmission capable of reducing both judder and engaging shock when returning from neutral control. SOLUTION: There is provided the control device for an automatic transmission, wherein target engine torque is controlled in return control from neutral control by a first target engine torque control means 116 in a step (SA4), feedback control is executed by a starting clutch control means 115 in a step (SA6) after request engine torque control by the first control means completed by a second target engine torque control means 118 in a step(SA5), the increase margin of engine torque is obtained during executing feedback control by the second target engine torque control means 118 in accordance with target engine torque controlled by the first target engine torque control means 116, and the control device is capable of reducing both judder and engaging shock as well as engaging the starting clutch in returning control from neutral control.
