The method involves feeding fuel and oxidizer to a fuel cell (14) with an anode (18) and a cathode (16), and controlling a cell voltage (U) at the fuel cell such that the cell voltage always lies above an anode material oxidization voltage. Temperature (T) at the fuel cell is measured, and a load current (I) of a fuel cell system is measured. Supply pressure (P) of the oxidizer is measured and/or set. The cell voltage and the pressure supply of the oxidizer are controlled as a function of the temperature. The oxidizer supply is controlled as a function of temperature at the fuel cell. An independent claim is also included for a high temperature fuel cell system comprising a fuel cell stack. |
